Founder, Miranda Brody
Miranda’s company is called BeanBack which sells hats that are half baseball caps and half beanies.
She got the idea in high school when she was a manager of a boy’s baseball team. While watching the game Miranda looked around and noticed all the boys had their hats on backwards. She was wearing a beanie at the time and thought of how cool it would be to combine the two.
“The “aha moment” was when I started wearing it around and people asked if I had a patent,” said Miranda.
BeanBack has won multiple awards including the Consumer Product Innovation Award in the Panasci Business Tournament.
At first her customer base was formed just by word of mouth but now social media, especially Instagram, has helped Miranda expand her brand. (NCC News)
