The Wellington Community High Girls Who Start (GWS) chapter, run by seniors Katie Brown and Rayna Dymkowski, has been hard at work planning business and entrepreneurial events for their high school peers.

Their chapter, founded at the beginning of this year, has hosted two events so far and is developing the third.

"It is a space for girls to feel welcomed and encouraged in a primarily male-dominated industry," said Dymkowski.

For their first event, they invited their sponsor, Ashley Parrett, to speak about managing her luxury picnic planning brand, Picnics of the Palm Beaches. Members had the opportunity to ask her questions about her work.

They also held a figurative "cookie workshop" event, where Brown and Dymkowski gave advice on how members could "bake their brand" in order to showcase the "recipe” – step-by-step instructions – of how to achieve entrepreneurial success and elevate a personal brand.

They are gearing up to host another event of the same caliber, this time utilizing cupcakes to showcase how members can create comparative advantage with their recipe pitches.

Brown and Dymkowski are both involved in other business opportunities at their school, such as the Distributive Education Clubs of America, or DECA.

"Our school hasn’t had a club that is entrepreneurial centered," said Dymkowski. "We hope it opens the space to have more conversations."
