A Taste of Sweet Success: How Sarah Fennel Turned Passion into a Thriving Brand

The first time Sarah Fennel turned a craving into a recipe, building a brand was not her intention. Fennel’s growing love for baking would eventually transform her recipes from a hobby into a trending dessert empire, Broma Bakery. 

Fennel began her culinary journey in 2010, creating an online baking diary of recipes while she was in college. She began like many early bloggers, her posts being creative and exploratory. As she explains, Broma Bakery started as “a place to share my love of baking.” Over time, as Fennel’s skills and audience grew, her recipes became more defined and recognizable. 

​​As her audience grew, so did her confidence and direction. Fennel refined her recipes and developed a distinct voice rooted in accessibility and enjoyment. Her goal, she emphasizes, has always been to make baking feel less intimidating, noting that she wants readers to feel like “anyone can bake and make something delicious.” This philosophy helped her stand out in a crowded digital space and build a loyal following.

After graduating from college, Fennel made the bold decision to pursue blogging full-time, stepping away from a more “traditional” path. That leap of faith marked the beginning of Broma Bakery as a business rather than just a personal project.

As her platform grew to millions of followers, Fennel faced a new challenge: stepping into the spotlight herself. “My biggest evolution in the last year has been including myself more and more in my business. In years prior, I’ve been able to let the food and my recipes shine on their own. Now, people seem to want to hear more and more from me” (Camille Styles). By including herself in her creations, she has built a movement rooted in confidence, creativity, and the belief that women can create their own opportunities.

 Fennel is officially the founder of Broma Bakery, and has her own cooking show available on Netflix. Additionally, Fennel won New York Time’s Best Seller for her cook book Sweet Tooth: 100 Recipes to Save Room For. In a world that often tells women to follow the recipe, Sarah Fennel proves that sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is write your own.
